CTE Business Management Teacher

 

 

  • Valid Michigan Teaching Certificate with endorsement in applied field. Endorsement qualification for position include: Valid Provisional/professional/Continuing Certificate vocational Business Services (VS);
  •        or
  • Annual Occupational Authorization. Specialized work experience (4,000 hours) in related position must have been within 10 years from the date of the application;
  • Must be able to successfully pass a background check;
  • Appropriate classroom instruction experiences preferred;
  • Annually update the TRAC/CIP Self-Review in GEMS, meeting district, county and state guidelines/timelines.;
  • Assist with two (minimum program advisory committee meetings each year;
  • Demonstrate knowledge of subject matter; center instruction on high expectations for student achievement and demonstrate effective teaching practices;
  • Use multiple student data elements for the purpose of assessing student progress, modifying instruction and improving student learning;
  • Communicate and collaborate with parents and the school community for the purpose of fostering individual student success and growth while engaging the families in the instructional program;
  • Exhibit collaborative and collegial practices focused on improving instructional practice and student learning by participating in professional learning communities, showing professionalism, and growing professionally;
  • Plan, organize, and teach a competency-based CTE program in business and technology courses;
  • Develop and maintain program budgets following district and building guidelines;
  • Foster and manage a safe, positive, and respectful learning environment for the purpose of promoting effective student behavior and success;
  • Demonstrate effective classroom and computer lab management;
  • Assist in development of and participate in activities designed to promote an innovative business and technology program;
  • Develop community and industry partnerships for students;
  • Demonstrate a professional commitment to CTE innovation;
  • Provide information and counsel students relative to employment, career opportunities and further education;
  • Ensure that program-specific safety training is provided and documented for every student;
  • Collaborate with team members on updating the Gap Analysis, curriculum and lesson development and documentation of the program delivery model;
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively/cooperatively with student, parent, and staff; 
  • Proven employment record illustrating warmth, patience, consistency, tolerance, empathy, trust, reliability, strong moral character, good attendance, sound judgment, discretion, and confidentiality;
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential function of the position;

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regular and reliable in person attendance is an essential job function. 
  • Plan, prepare, implement, monitor, and evaluate a quality competency-based Business and Technology CTE (Career and Technical Education) Program leading to the development of student skills sufficient to qualify for entry-level employment and/or post-secondary education using effective instruction with all students. Participate with building teams to collect and analyze data on student achievement with building principal and School Improvement Team;
  • Other duties as assigned by administrator;
  • Evening hours – as needed for Advisory meetings and special evening CTE Programs.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
