Hours:  Monday - Friday 6 am - 6pm (hours may vary)

Dates:   June 10 - August 16 (NO SACC July 1st - 5th)

 

Qualifications:

  • High School graduate
  • Successful previous experience working with School-Age children in a large group setting, preferred.
  • Willingness to complete at least 12 clock hours of annual training in Early Childhood Education
  • CPR & First certification (infant, child, adult) - must maintain current certification status
  • Be able to pass a standard physical and TB test
  • Obtain State Police Criminal Clearance, Fingerprint, and Family Independence Agency clearance for Child Protective Services.
  • Working towards an Early Childhood Education Degree or CDA, preferred.
  • Familiar with the Model Standards for Out-of-School Time, preferred.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Regular and reliable in-person attendance is an essential job function. 
  • Assure the accuracy of student attendance according to Elementary Principal’s procedures.
  • Assist with program planning that meets social, emotional, physical and cognitive needs of all the children.
  • Carry out activity plans as designed.
  • Interact with the children individually and in groups so that special needs are met.
  • Involve the children in planning activities and in decision-making for both small and large group activities.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining a clean, safe and inviting environment.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining good daily communication with parents.
  • Protect the privacy of the families enrolled by observing the rules of confidentiality.
  • Demonstrate professionalism through good attendance and punctuality.
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with parents and school staff.
  • Ability to keep order while motivating, inspiring, and insuring a safe and welcoming learning environment.
  • Demonstrate good customer service while providing a positive attitude and welcoming school experience for students, parents, visitors and staff.
  • Maintain a pleasant atmosphere for all children by using positive and consistent guidance techniques.
  • Attend all required meetings, conferences & workshops as well as continue to pursue own staff development.
  • Willingness to work towards School Age Credentialing of self and Accreditation of the program.
  • Participate in all aspects of the program including indoor and outdoor activities.
  • Perform other duties as delegated or assigned by the Early Childhood Supervisor and/or Building Principal.

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and the ability to adjust focus. Some extended hours are frequently required of the employee.
