Hours: Monday – Friday - hours to be determined

 

Qualifications:

  • Degree in Early Childhood, Bachelors, preferred
  • Creative Curriculum Training or experience preferred
  • Previous experience working in Preschool classroom setting
  • Strong knowledge base of Child Development
  • Familiar with Early Childhood Standards of Quality
  • Knowledge of Early Childhood best practice

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide a safe, warm and caring environment for which children can grow and learn.
  • Establish a consistent daily routine that provides developmentally appropriate educational opportunities.
  • Plan and prepare written detailed Lesson Plans that utilize the Creative Curriculum and Preschool Core Curriculum objectives.
  • Provide opportunities that meet the individual needs of the children.
  • Provide opportunities for children to meet their social, emotional, physical and cognitive development.
  • Insure that positive and consistent discipline techniques are followed & implemented
  • Conduct parent activities and parent teacher conferences.
  • Responsible for assessing and maintaining student progress, reports and evaluations using current online assessment.
  • Establish and maintain positive communication with all parents both verbally & in writing.
  • Protect the privacy of the families enrolled by observing professional rules of confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Elementary Education Director.
  • Maintain professional growth and continuing education opportunities.
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Additional Qualifications:

  • Must pass a TB test.
  • Obtain criminal clearance background check as required by the State of Michigan
  • Hold current CPR & First Aid Certification (must remain current)
  • Good verbal & written communication skills

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required talk or hear and sometimes traverse and sit. In case of emergency must be able to traverse about school campus and lead students to safety.    

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books and AV/laptop carts.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
