Hours: Monday - Friday times to be determined

 

 

Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development or the equivalent; or a valid classroom CDA credential
  • Will be required to complete 24 hours of annual training in compliance with licensing regulations 
  • R400.5102(3)(b) not including CPR, first aid, and blood borne pathogen training. 
  • Completion of Creative Curriculum Training desired 
  • Possess current certification in CPR for infant, child and adult and First Aid.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing, planning and providing a stimulating and enriching lesson plans and classroom environment for preschool age children following the Anchor Bay
  • Preschool Core Curriculum using the Creative Curriculum approach to learning.
  • Maintain Positive encouragement, classroom management and Adult-Child interactions at all times.
  • Maintain a clean & safe classroom environment
  • Assist teacher in assessing classroom environment using PQA manual
  • Assist teacher with classroom set up and preparation of class materials
  • Assist & supervise children to & from the restrooms, including assisting with toileting
  • Assist teacher with bus arrivals, departures and riding the bus with students when necessary
  • Conduct/ Participate in Group and Work Time activities according to teacher directions
  • Assist teacher with communication and involvement with parents, on Home Visits, Parent Teacher
  • Conferences, Open House, Parent Orientation, Special Person’s Days, Field Trips, etc.
  • Assist with assuring that all children’s records are complete and meet licensing regulations
  • Observe, interact and assist with collecting anecdotal notes of each student while communicating openly with the teacher regarding concerns, developments and progress
  • Complete other duties, related to position, assigned by Early Childhood Supervisor.
  • Regular and reliable in person attendance required.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

 

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required talk or hear and sometimes traverse and sit. In case of emergency must be able to traverse about school campus and lead students to safety.    

 

While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift up to 50 lbs. such as boxes of books and AV/laptop carts.  The employee is directly responsible for safety, well-being, or work output of other people.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. The position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
