For the 2024/25 School Year 

 

Hours: 6.5 per day

  • Assist the classroom teacher in implementing, planning and providing a stimulating and enriching classroom environment;
  • Maintain positive encouragement, classroom management and adult-child interactions at all times;
  • Maintain a clean & safe classroom environment;
  • Assist teacher with classroom set up, preparation of class materials, snack and snack menu;
  • Assist & supervise children to & from the restrooms, including assisting with toileting;
  • Assist teacher with bus arrivals, departures and riding the bus with students when necessary;
  • Conduct/participate in group and work time activities according to teacher directions;
  • Previous experience in an early chilodhood preferred;
  • Prepare children’s cupboards for going home folders, papers, projects, etc.;
  • Assist teacher with communication and involvement with parents;
  • Assist with assuring that all children’s records are complete, and
  • Complete other duties, related to position, as directed by the building administrator.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Possess current certification in CPR for infant, child and adult and First Aid;
  • Ability to work independently with students;
  • Ability to keep order while motivating, inspiring, and insuring a safe, positive and welcoming learning environment;
  • Ability to work cooperatively and professionally with parents and school staff; 
  • Ability to physically participate in student activities in classroom, on playground, and during special events.  
  • Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.

Education and Experience: 

  • Must have successfully earned a High School Diploma or equivalent; 
  • Must have successfully earned 60 or more credit hours from an accredited college or university OR have taken and passed the Work Keys test prior to June 1, 2017. After June 1, 2017, must have ETS Paraprofessional Assessment with a passing score of 460. 

 

Licenses and Certifications 

  • CPI Certified preferred. 

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.

 

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.

REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
