Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary Education, Early Childhood or Child Development
- Valid Michigan teaching certificate with an Early Childhood Specialist (ZA or ZS) endorsement
- Creative Curriculum Training or Certification Preferred
- Previous experience working in GSRP Preferred
- Must pass a MiLeap/Michigan Childcare Background check & TB test.
- Obtain Criminal Clearance from MI State Police and from Family Independence Agency for Child Protective Services.
- Current CPR & First Aid Certification (must remain current).
- Attend required and optional training, workshops, and conferences relevant to Early Childhood Education.
- Good verbal & written communication skills and have reliable transportation.
Responsibilities
- Using the Creative Curriculum to learning develop and implement daily lesson plans.
- Establish a consistent visual Daily Routine that provides developmentally appropriate educational opportunities.
- Conduct Interview Screenings for Intake Qualifications, Home Visits and Parent/Teacher Conferences.
- Attend meetings and conferences as directed for GSRP programs.
- Insure that positive and consistent discipline techniques are followed & implemented.
- Responsible for assessing and maintaining student progress, reports and evaluations as directed using GOLD.
- Score ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE Developmental Assessments and make recommendations to parents as required by grant.
- Write & submit Weekly Lesson Plans, Parent Newsletters and menus.
- Organize & arrange for monthly field trips and activities relevant to classroom activities.
- Communicate regularly with parents and encourage parent participation in classroom.
- Return parent’s phone calls, emails, and notes in a timely manner.
- Complete all required paperwork and forms in a timely manner.
- Maintain classroom and materials in a clean & safe manner.
- Assure that all children’s records are complete and meet licensing and grant regulations.
- Work collaboratively with other program staff and building administrators.
- Assess classroom environment using PQA as required by grant.
- Regular and reliable attendance is an essential job function.
- Other duties as assigned by the Early Childhood Supervisor.
- Reports directly to the Supervisor of Early Childhood Programs
- As required, prepare documents and records for district, state and/or federal mandates
LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of employees.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts; ability to compute percentages and to interpret graphs.
REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Personal computer skills necessary. Ability to apply knowledge of current research and theory in specific field. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with staff and the school community. Ability to speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Ability to perform duties with awareness of all district requirements and Board of Education policies.
