The primary focus of this position is to implement restorative practices to address conflicts, misconduct, and disciplinary issues in a proactive and constructive manner. Supervision Received and Exercised Receives general supervision from higher-level staff. Exercises supervision of lower-level staff. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Management reserves the right to add, modify, change, or rescind the work assignments of different positions and to make reasonable accommodations so that qualified employees can perform the essential functions of the job. Collaborate with students, staff, and administrators to develop and implement restorative practice programs and initiatives. Assist administrators in developing and supporting a safe and responsive school culture. Communicate a high level of expectation to students. Communicate clear learning goals to students. Provide training and support to staff and students on restorative principles and practices. Serve as a liaison between students, families, and the school to ensure effective communication and resolution of issues. Maintain accurate records and documentation of restorative practice processes and outcomes. Integrate thinking processes into real-life applications. Conduct follow-up meetings and assessments to monitor the progress of restorative interventions. Treats people with respect; keep commitments; work with integrity; be ethical; uphold organizational values. Support the implementation of restorative practice as an alternative to traditional disciplinary measures. Coordinating and facilitating restorative circles. Assist in the development and enforcement of school-wide behavior policies that align with restorative practice principles. Collaborate with community organizations and agencies to enhance restorative practice efforts and resources. Stay informed about current research and best practices in restorative processes and restorative practices. Documents behavior incidents, conducts investigations, and drafts parent correspondence for the principal. Regular and reliable in-person attendance is an essential job function. Performs such other duties as the principal and/or Superintendent of School may direct. Qualifications Education and Experience: High school diploma or GED equivalent required. Bachelor’s degree in education, social work, psychology, or a related field, preferred. Previous experience working in restorative practice or conflict resolution, preferably in an educational setting. Excellent communication, interpersonal, and facilitation skills. Ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including students, parents, teachers, and administrators. Demonstrated organizational and problem-solving abilities. Commitment to equity, inclusion, and social principles. Knowledge of: Knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations related to student discipline and confidentiality. Knowledge of how to implement restorative practices that teach students proactive problem solving. Ability to: Effectively manage concurrent tasks and adhere to demanding time constraints. Top of Form Establish and maintain positive effective relationships with students, parents, administrators, and staff. Apply mathematical concepts, encompassing addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportion. Respond to emergencies effectively and follow school protocol to ensure student safety. Speak clearly and concisely both in oral and written communication. Physical Demands The physical demands described below are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. Program activities may require sitting, standing, walking on level and slippery surfaces, reaching, twisting, turning, kneeling, bending, stooping, squatting, crouching, grasping, and making repetitive hand movement in the performance of daily duties; the ability to lift, carry and push tools, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 50 pounds or heavier weights with assistance and/or the use of proper equipment. Environmental Elements Incumbents work in both indoor and outdoor environments with moderate to loud noise levels. May work in controlled temperature conditions, cold and hot temperatures, or inclement weather conditions. May be exposed to communicable illnesses, blood, and body fluids. Incumbents will interact with individuals in interpreting and enforcing rules, policies, and procedures. Working Conditions Incumbents may be assigned an on-call and irregular work schedule, including weekends, early mornings, and evenings. Pre-Employment Conditions Livescan criminal background check.
